HLTHPS006 – Assist Clients with Medication is a nationally recognised Unit of Competency designed to provide students with the practical skills and knowledge required to safely assist clients with their medication needs within aged care, disability, home care, and community services settings.

Students will learn how to provide person-centred medication support under supervision and delegation, while following individual support plans, workplace procedures, and legal and ethical requirements. This unit also focuses on medication safety, documentation practices, monitoring side effects, and promoting client wellbeing and independence.

HLTHPS006 – Assist Clients with Medication is delivered through an engaging full-day face-to-face workshop, where students participate in interactive learning activities designed to reflect real-world medication support scenarios.

 

The workshop format allows students to:

  • Practise interpreting medication charts and care plans

  • Simulate medication assistance via various routes

  • Respond appropriately to client refusal, side effects, and medication-related incidents
